| The Circle of Bliss The Circle of Bliss Fri Feb 6 – Sun May 9 Columbus Museum of Art John Huntington, professor of History of Art, was organizing curator of an exhibition that will be on view at the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) Feb 6-May 9. The Circle of Bliss: Buddhist Meditational Art is a major exhibition of Tibetan, Nepalese, Mongolian, Indian and Chinese paintings, manuscripts, sculptures, textiles and ritual implements illuminating the ideals and teachings of Buddhism. The exhibition is organized by the CMA and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where it opened in October, and showcases 150 masterworks from public and private collections from around the world, including 40 museums. Huntington and Dina Bangdel, director of special collections, College of the Arts, and curator of the Huntington Archive, were co-exhibition curators and primary catalogue authors for the accompanying groundbreaking, 600-page fully illustrated catalogue. The catalogue also included major work essays and entries by several students in the Graduate Art History program. |
